Glue Ear in Childhood

Portada
Cambridge University Press, 1995 M06 8 - 144 páginas
Glue ear, or otitis media with effusion, is the most common reason for elective surgery in childhood. This volume demonstrates the morphological differences in the nasopharynx of affected children and evaluates the causes and progression of the condition based on data compiled from a large number of prospective and longitudinal studies. The analysis includes a report on the effects of surgical management with adenoidectomy, adeno-tonsillectomy and grommets. In addition, Dr. Maw discusses complications due to the disease and its treatment, along with factors of prognostic significance. Having presented this material, he is able to provide information about the factors that will determine if surgery would be beneficial. These recommendations are certain to be valued by a wide range of health professionals with an interest in the effective management of otitis media with effusion.
